Hi my pain healed after about a week, so I tried to bend forward down again the pain came back. Will this lower back pain only be solved with exercise? It doesn't heal itself like other parts of the body?
And what do you mean by improve? Before this my back had no pain in any position. Could I ever get back to that?
There are a lot of things that can hurt when bending forward. The SIJ (sacroiliac joint) is one possibility. Disc injury is another possibility. I would think it reassuring that you only feel this when bending down. McKenzie exerices (pressup) can be helpful for a lot of people with pain worse when bending forward. Hope this helps.
You should get evaluated by a physician if you are nervous about this. Disc issues are common and most get better regardless of what we do. Hopefully this continues to improve. Most back issues can be improved with exercise kinds of interventions.
hi.. im having a lower back pain right now.. and i really don't know what to do with it.. it starts a week ago maybe, and its getting worse day by day.. i feel the pain when i bend, lift things, cough, sneezing, even if just walking too sometimes i feel pain.. mostly if i just sitting down for so long.. my left leg often hurts too.. the pain just can go away if i lay down (sleep) and then comes back again if i start moving again... i am so worried but i still can't go to the doctor..
im only 25 and i have 3 disc bulges. the doctor said this is normal aging and i find it hard to believe because again im only 25 years old. i think my chiropractor caused the problem because prior to that i had another mri in the same place(cervical spine) that was unremarkable. is it really normal for a 25 year old to have disc degeneration or did the chiropractor in fact mess up my discs?
Dear Sir, Thank you for your reply. I had hoped it was not a disc issue since that is permanent right? I am only feeling the pain in my lower back and the last time I had it, it was nearly gone. However, with exercise my flexibility does improve more. I am 32 years and really want to get back to normal. Also, could it just be a muscle, ligament or tenon problem??
X-rays are helpful but you cannot really see the disc itself on an x-ray. An MRI is the test to visualize disc issues. That being said, pain that is worse with forward bending can be related to disc issues. Again there is a lot you can do with exercise to improve these issues. McKenzie pressup exercises can be helpful (among other options) with disc-related pain. Hopefully this helps. Let me know how this goes.
Most back issues will improve with time (usually a couple of weeks). Hopefully this will improve. A lot of people fin d McKenzie pressup exercises helpful when you have pain that is worse with bending forward. Let me know how this goes for you.
Hi there, About two years ago I was doing a weight-lifting seated low row exercise and I suddenly felt a sharp pain on my lower back. I got an xray and the doc said there was nothing wrong with my disc but perhaps the muscles, ligaments or tendons around the spine were strained. Two year later and I only feel the pain when I bend down. What could be my problem and what should I do about it please?
BTW I also had what seemed to be muscle strain in my lower back but that seemed to be healed now. But I am scared to death that something structural might be wrong.
I've never had back issues of any kind. But the other day I threw ball(pitching motion) a bit too hard without prior warm up and it really hurt my back. It's been a week and now and whenever I bend down a pain comes in my lower back. I am so afraid that something might be damaged because I am not in a financial position to get it fixed. If not, how long does it take to heal? I am 21 years old by the way.
Disc issues are common. Disc-related pain is often worse with bending forward,d cough/sneeze and some of these things. An important thing to keep in mind is that we all get wear and tear in our discs over time. Most disc issues will improve with time and conservative interventions. I would use this intermittent pain as a chance to work on exercises to (1) make the pain better and (2) try to decrease future episodes. Hope this helps.
I have a pain that runs down the top of my right glute and descends to about half way down, but the pain is under the glute. It hurts when I sneeze or when I try to get up from the ground. Im guessing my pain starts by the sacrum region runs down my right leg. It is not going away but its also not getting any worse. What do you think of this?
hi i am 20 years old and have lower back pain. I use to do weight training 2-3years ago, but the pain and worsen after i bought a bed with poor mattress. The pain might be caused from muscles tight pain. I am changing my bed now but the pain, i cant stand it. i can walk for long, cant bend either way and its really painful. What are some of the things i can do to relief this pain.
I apologize for being slow in response. Hopefully you are feeling better by this point. I often see people with back pain related to lifting or helping to care from someone (e.g. nurses). So this is a situation that occurs frequently. Let me know how things have gone but hopefully this pain has resolved.
I sometimes get lower back pain. I do inversion exercises for this. Particularly I do a kind of pelvic thrust exercise - 3 sets of 50 reps can remove all pain. I have also found that the effectiveness of Mckenzie's standing extension exercise may be increased by leaning backwards up an incline and/or with heels on a step.
I have lower back pain and I get relief only when I press up that specific area :( and its really hard coz I am a student and i have classes all the time :(

2) I can walk and stand normal. But when I bend over/bend over to sit down, cough, sneeze and even laugh I can feel the pain. It says on webMD that when "the pain increases when you cough or bend forward at the waist. This can be the sign of a herniated disc". The pain is not really excruciating, in fact I sometimes don't feel any pain, but mostly it's a slight pain. What do you think this could be?Do you think it could be a herniated disc or many a muscle strain? I'm really scared.
