Is it true your appendix can rupture without having any symptoms?

Question by Nurse of the future: Is it true your appendix can rupture without having any symptoms?
My physiology teacher told us today that a person's appendix can rupture without even having an appendicitus attack. Is this true? She said it can cause lower abdominal pain days, weeks or even months later. Is this true? The reason i asked is because my physiology teacher tends to say thing that are incorrect.

Thank you!

yep -happens all the time. or a patient may have moderate pain initially. when the appendix ruptures, the pain ebbs. at this point the patient becomes septic very quickly and may only present with a fever.
