what could be causing sharp lower back pain?

Question by lori n: what could be causing sharp lower back pain?
I had lower back pain earlier today then I sneezed and I can't hardly walk. I have sharp pains when I walk, sit down, or stand up. The only thing I have done out of routine is mow the grass with a push mower this weekend. What could cause this and what kind of a doc do I need to see?

When you sneezed did it feel like you got stabbed by a red hot ice pick? If it did you should see a doctor. That's what nerve pain feels like. Here are a few links that will help you until then.

Your liver is on your right side, right under your ribs. Lower back pain would more likely indicate that there's something wrong with your kidneys. Then again, if something's wrong, it sometimes shows up with a symptom in a different place (blocked sinuses can cause toothaches, an inflamed appendix can cause your hair to fall out, etc.). Go see your doctor about it.

What could be causing my severe lower back pain?

Question by Zach: What could be causing my severe lower back pain?
I'm a 20 year old male. My lower back hurts nearly all the time. It started about three months ago. Trying to stretch it also hurts and can almost be excrutiating at times. The pain also sometimes goes into my hips and upper legs. After getting an X-ray, my physical therapist said it's just growing pains from one of my bottom vertibrate being raised like five degrees on one side. The pain has gotten worse sense then. Could it really just be growing pains causing this sometimes severe lower back pain?

What could be causing my lower left side back pain?

Question by mennogurl: What could be causing my lower left side back pain?
I have been in severe, crippling lower left side back pain for over a month now. The pain killers aren't working, I can't bend over to do anything without being in pain, and the xray revealed nothing. I can't sit in my chair at work without being in pain. I have done NOTHING to injury my back. What are some possible things that could be causing my crippling lower back pain? Thanks.

Could this be what is causing my lower back pain?

Question by DororoANDCaiya: Could this be what is causing my lower back pain?
My lower back has been hurting for months now, and some days it hurts worse than others. My breast are pretty big, about a 40C I'd say...could that cause lower back pain? Or would it just be temporary if it was because of my breast?

Yes all that extra weight could certainly be causing you pain. The pain could also be caused by something completely different. I am small but I have back problems, very slight scoliosis, most doctors don't even notice it until I tell them. Why don't you ask your doctor? In the meantime, do some exercises to strengthen your core. No matter the cause, strong back muscles will relieve the pressure causing you pain. After seeing a physical therapist I was advised to buy a Pilates kit. Now I work out and stretch with a yoga ball every day, following the instructions coming with it. I have not had any back pain since.. My friend's back was hurting and she has large breasts, I recommended the same work out (she didn't have money to see a doctor) and now she has no back pain either. Good luck!
